Beechlawn is proud to be a Health Promoting School. Our aim is to encourage the whole school to be more aware of the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise. At Beechlawn we hope that improving nutrition will be reflected in children's overall performance both in school and at home. We have introduced:- - A breakfast club
- A whole school water drinking policy
- The eating of fruit and vegetables in class
- The drinking of milk at break
We promote the importance of exercise through whole school Aerobics and Skipathon days. We also promote the importance of dental hygiene and work with the South Eastern Health Trust which provide each child with a free Dental Pack each term as part of our Oral Health Programme. All year Beechlawn pupils have been trying their best to eat healthy food at breaktime. The Community Dental Nurse has been in school teaching pupils the correct way to clean their teeth and discussing healthy foods. We have been eating lots of fruit and drinking water and milk. We have just heard that Beechlawn has won the 'Save Our Smiles' 2011 Award, so well done to all pupils. Keep up the healthy eating over the summer. Beechlawn has won the Action Cancer Health Award 2010
